Irene is a visual artist and dancer whose dance journey began with ballet. However, jazz dance soon attracted her with its opportunities for personal expression and freedom of movement.
Beyond dancing, she is passionate about jazz dance’s rich history, its connection to the contemporary world, and its aesthetics. She researches visual artists, videographers, and photographers of the jazz era.

Irene loves exploring the multilayered nature of jazz music, including African, Latin, and bebop elements, and their relation to jazz dance.  Inspired by reading and watching clips of original dancers, she excels in solo jazz and lindy hop and enjoys the challenge of tap dance training with a continuous learning attitude.

Irene has extensive experience teaching at international festivals across Europe and has achieved many competition placements.
After spending time in the vibrant dance scenes of Ghent and Stockholm, Irene is now based in Athens, where she coaches and trains with the lindy hop and solo jazz teams of her project, Athens Authentic Jazz Dance.
